This past Saturday, WFSE Local 1488 Unanimously voted to endorse the student strike!! See the resolution below; if you are a member of UAW 4121, COME OUT TUESDAY FEB 23rd at 7 PM to vote for UAW to pass a similar resolution!
RESOLUTION PASSED BY WFSE 1488
Whereas the Student Worker Coalition at the University of Washington (composed mostly of students but also including campus workers and community members) is organizing to oppose the budget cuts and including in their demands that tuition be frozen and that workers wages, benefits and working conditions be protected,
Whereas hundreds of students participated in the 7,000 strong labor led rally on the steps of the state capitol on Feb 15th,
Whereas the March 4th day of action is part of a national day of action, and that AFSCME
Local 444, along with numerous other labor locals and councils in California, including California Labor Federation, which has over 2 million workers in unions has resolved to "support ... a statewide strike and/or day of action on March 4th, 2010, in California
Be it resolved that WFSE Local 1488 endorse the Student strike called by the U.W. Student/Worker Coalition on March 4th at 1pm composed of a rally on the QUAD and informational picket lines.
Be it further resolved that WFSE Local 1488 encourage it's members to participate in the student's informational picket lines on their personal time.
