Letter from Therese Quinn

April 26, 2010

To the Administrators of the University of Washington:

I'm writing in support of the graduate students in the Student-Worker Coalition, and to urge you to recognize them, including their rights to organize, to speak about the issues, and to strike. Further, I write in support of this strike.

I am excited and impressed by the energy, organization, and eloquence of the students on your campus, and by their expressed desires to work for justice and a democratic university. As educators, we should support their development as active and participatory citizens. As citizens, we can only hope that more of our nation’s young people grow in this way; our futures depend on it.

Sincerely,
Therese Quinn
Associate Professor of Art Education
